Shield Or, an embattled castle Gules, with ports and windows Or and portcullis Sable at the central port, between two embattled towers with cone roofs, topped by a fleur-de-lis Argent each, an impending shield Argent in bend, charged with a griffin rampant Gules armed Or, and crested by a helmet Azure, crested with a coronet Or , scarves of Gules and Argent and peacock feathers proper.
    Meaning:
Demmin was the seat of former Demmin County. The city was founded by Duke Wartislaw III of Pommern-Demmin and was the preferred seat of the dukes since 1264. By a division of Pommern the city became a part of the Wolgast branch, castle and bailiwick of the Stettin branch. The arms are based on the oldest city seal, prints existed from 1265. The pattern was modified in details through the centuries. The current pattern is based on an image of Otto Hupp from 1898. The castle is symbolising the status of a fortified city. The shield with the griffin is alluding to the Dukes of Pommern-Demmin, especially to the founder. The fleur-de-lis on the tower had been on local coins and local court seals. They are stressing the importance of the city as seat of the dukes.
