Sangerhausen is the seat of Mansfeld-Südharz County and has 30,000 inhabitants.

It is a blue-white vertical bicolour with arms shifted to the top. The colour of the mural crown is uncertain, it is not mentioned in Günther 1996b nor on the city website.

Shield Azure, an initial "S" Or intertwined with two wolf traps Argent in saltire. Sometimes the shield is topped by a mural crown with three visible towers.
Meaning:
The initial is representing the name of the city and has been in use in this pattern since 1758. The wolf traps were in use since the 16th century e.g. on local boundary stones.
