Description of banner:
It is a green - white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag. The name of the municipality is shifted to the top as follows: centred, "Gemeinde" (1st line), "AFFALTERBACH" (2nd line).

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a eradicated apple tree with red apples in natural colour. The shield has a blue base wavy.
Meaning:
The arms are canting. "Affalter" is an old local term for an appletree. The base wavy is representing a creek (German: Bach).
