Fellen Coat of Arms

Shield barry of six of Gules and Or, issuant from a triplemount Vert in base two oak leaves Argent each with an acorn of the same, in chief an impending royal coronet Argent.
Meaning:
The coronet (German: Laubkrone) is alluding to the fact that Fellergrund had been a royal possession in the early Medieval. Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa is said to have founded Rengersbrunn, which merged with Fellen in 1972. The emperor got lost in the forest and found a fountain with water sweeter than wine. Since then he often returned to that fountain. The place was called Regisborn, it is the king's fountain. The name later changed to Rengersbrunn. The bars of red and golden are taken from the arms of the Counts of Rieneck, who acquired both villages in 1319. After the counts had died out in 1559, the villages became a possession of the Archbishopric of Main, represented in the arms by the white elements, which is also the colour of the wheel of Mainz. Mount and leaves are symbolising the location in the Spessart, a forest. The leaves furthermore are referring to sawmills and tree nurseries as important local business lines.
