Motten Coat of Arms

Shield Sable, parted by a bend sinister Argent charged in centre with cross patty Sable, in dexter chief a royal coronet Or, in sinister base a thistle blossom Or.
Meaning:
The basic tinctures and the black cross are alluding to the fact that the area historically belonged to the Fulda Imperial Abbey. The bend sinister is the representation of an important Medieval road, which connected Motten with Kothen and Speicherz. Both merged with Motten in 1978. The coronet is symbolising the vehmic court of Motten. Its existence is proven between 1275 and 1277. also privileges granted by the German king (German: Königsfreiheit). The thistle is symbolising the location in the Rhön, a mountain ridge.
