Shield Argent a factted cross patty Sable; mantled at dexter Azure a bend sinister Argent charged with three annulets Azure and at sinister Gules a fish haurient embowed Argent.
Meaning:
The town exists since 1971 by a merger of Geroda Municipality and Platz Market Town and gained the title of a market town by the merger. Both had a common parish since 1548. Geroda belonged to the Fulda Imperial Abbey, represented by the black cross, until 1803. Platz belonged to the Bishopric of Würzburg. The Julius Hospital in Würzburg had been manorial lord in both. The hospital caused the elevation of Platz to a market town in 1802. The dexter part of the mantle displays the arms of the hospital, a differentiation of the arms of its founder, Bishop Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn (1573 - 1617). The fish is taken from the arms of the Lords von der Tann, who ruled the villages for a long time and allowed freedom of religion in their lands, which has resulted in the fact that the villages are Lutheran in an otherwise Catholic region.
