Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a crozier Or in pale, at sinister Or, a lion rampant Gules.
Meaning:
Abstatt had been seat of a subcounty of Löwenstein. The court seal fom 1628 displayed the arms of the Counts of Löwenstein, a crowned lion passant on top of a quadruple mount. Later seals fom 1697 and 1768 displayed the lion sinister facing. At the beginning of the 20th century a lion rampant appeared in the local village mayor's seal. The municipality adopted the current pattern on 21 November 1907. The (abbot's) crozier was a distinguishing mark and a canting element, because the municipality's name might be interpreted as "Abtsstadt" (= abbot's city). Furthermore the village had been a possession of Oberstenfeld Abbey in the past.
