    Meaning:
Strasburg became a dominion of the Margraves of Brandenburg together with the Uckermark in 1250. It gained city rights in 1267. In the 14th and 15th century it was hard fought between Mecklenburg, Pommern and Brandenburg. Finally it remained a part of Brandenburg since 1479. The inescutcheon is symbolising the Electors of Brandenburg, the former rulers. The castle is symbolising the fortification of the city in former days and the city rights. The waves are symbolising waters and swamps formerly surrounding the city.

The arms were fixed in 1900 and confirmed in 1997. The flag was approved on 17 December 2007 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Both were published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.132.
