Breitenthal Coat of Arms

Issuant from base a triplemount Vert, above parted per pale, at dexter Gules three rye ears Or in fan, at sinister Argent a fess wavy Azure.
Meaning:
Breitenthal proper was first mentioned in 1105. The village belonged to the original equipment of the Premonstratensian Roggenburg Abbey, which was founded around 1130. The abbey acquired the right of patronage and the bailiwick of the church of Nattenhausen in 1426. The dexter half is based on the seal of the abbey. Ears and the green triplemount are also symbolising the rural environment. The blue fess wavy is a representation of the Günz River. The tinctures red and white are those of the Bishopric of Augsburg. Nattenhausen became a part of the Margraviate of Burgau in 1492 and of the bishopric in the 16th century.
