Shield Argent an eradicated oak Vert, flanked by two heather plants Vert blossomed Gules and superimposing hammer and mallet Sable in saltire and a mattock of the same, in base a gunstone.
Meaning:
The arms are based on a local court seal from 1643. The seal already displayed the gunstone, a black disc, blasoned in German as "black point". Its origin is unknown. The oak is a representation of the so called oak of arms, standing on the market square of the municipality. The tree was planted in 1750. In 1999 its total height had been 22m, the diameter of the crown had been 17m and the extent of the trunk had been more than 3m. The predecessor of the oak had been planted in 1643, the year, when the seal was introduced. Hammer and mallet are symbolising mining as important business line until the 18th century. The mattock is symbolising the origin of the municipality by forest clearance. The heather (German: Heide) is canting.
