Lößnitz Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a castle Argent consisting of an embattled wall masoned Sable topped by three embattled towers of the same with windows Azure, the central tower having a pitch roof Azure topped by a ball Or and on its base superimposed by an inescutcheon Or parted by a saltire Sable.
Meaning:
Lößnitz was mentioned as a city first in 1284, when it belonged to the County of Hartenstein. It was acquired by the Lords of Schönburg in 1406 and by the Kings of Sachsen in 1874. It was a walled city since the 14th century and had a mint already since 1286. Mining was practised since 1362 and developed around 1500. In the 16th century a hammer mill existed. Afterwards textiles industry became the main business line. The arms display a castle as symbol of a fortified city. The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Burgraves of Meißen, to which the city belonged until 1406. The arms changed in minor details, e.g. black windows in the past.
