The shield is silver with an eradicated oak, acorned golden, in chief hanging in the tree, is a red inescutcheon, charged with two silver keys in saltire.
Meaning:
The inescutcheon is alluding to the Archbishops of Bremen, the former rulers.

Hagen im Bremischen had 10 991 inhabitants in 2015 and covers 197.3 km². Hagen im Bremischen together with five other municipalities, among those Sandstedt (see below) formed the comprehensive municipality of hagen from 1970 to 2013. On 1 January 2014 all former municipalities were dissolved and incorporated into Hagen im Bremischen.

The shield is parted per pale. At dexter in a blue field is a silver eagle, armed, beaked and nimbed golden. At sinister the silver field is in base divided by a blue bar wavy, above is a green branch of linden with 11 leaves.
Meaning:
The eagle is representing St. John the Evangelist, the local patron saint. The branch is taken from the arms of the Von Witmar kin. The bar wavy is representing Weser River.
