Description of coat of arms:
In golden (=yellow) field is a blue ash tree, growing out of a red, embattled base, which is superimposed by three golden (=yellow) balls.
Meaning:
According to source the ash tree is canting. The oldest form of the municipality's name is Ascasberg (engl.: mountain of ash trees). The balls are taken from the arms of the von Davensberg family.The blue colour of the ash is representing the former municipality of Herbern.

In golden (=yellow) field is a green ash tree, growing out of a red, embattled base, which is superimposed by three golden (=yellow) balls.
It is the nearly the same like the current coat of arms, just the balls in the old coat of arms are a bit more filligree and the colour of the ash tree was different.
