The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over white over blue horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Description of coat of arms:
The coat is divided by a blue fess into golden (=yellow) and silver (=white). The fess is superimposed by three golden 6-point stars. The silver field is divided by two red bends formed by rhombs (German: Rautenbalken).
Meaning:
According to source the golden colour is symbolizing the archbishops of Münster, the former rulers. The stars upon a fess are taken from the seal of Johann von Legden, the bends from the arms of the Asbeck kin, who was living in the village with the same name.

Flag, banner and coat of arms were approved by Regierungspräsident Münster on 5 March 1970. (But there existed older versions from 1956, i do not yet know.).

The ratio is 1:1. It is a blue flag with three yellow tails. The blue field is containing the charges of the former coat of arms without shield.

Meaning:
It is probably the pattern taken from the seal of Johann von Legden.
