Shield chequered of Gules and Argent, superimposed by a lion rampant Azure, crowned dn armed Or and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The chequered background displays the arms of the Farther County of Sponheim, the lion is taken from those of the Counts of Veldenz. Both had been former rulers.

The flag is in use without approval. The arms were approved on 28 July 1949.
