Saaldorf-Surheim Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess wavy, above Argent a wheel Azure flanked by two fleur-de-lis issuant from wheel of the same, beneath Gules a door hinge Argent in fess superimposed by a grain ear Or.
Meaning:
The wavy line of partition is a representation of the little Sur River, the border of the municipality. The wheel is symbolising the historical salt road, the fleur-de-lis are taken from the apocryphal arms of St. Rupert, who played an important role in the beginnings of the Archbishopric of Salzburg. The municipality is located in Rupert's corner (German: Rupertiwinkel), the northern part of the current county, which historically belonged to the archbishopric. The main tinctures are also referring to the archbishopric, the tinctures blue and white to the Kingdom of Bayern, the successor of the archbishops. The grain ear is symbolising agriculture. The hinge is taken from the arms of the Counts of Kuenburg, who owned estates in the northern part of the current municipality. Salldorf merged with Surheim in 1978. The new municipality was named Saaldorf and since 1994 Saaldorf-Surheim.
