Description of coat of arms:
In a green shield is a golden (= yellow) crozier issuant, flanked by two stalks of grain of the same colour. The shield has a golden (= yellow) chief, superimposed by a green branch of fir.
Meaning:
The crozier is alluding to the Monastery of Hirsau, which had possessions in the area since the 9th century. It could also be found on border stones since 1681. In 1930 appears a coat of arms, similar to the current version. In the chief is a branch of oak. Beneath is the crozier together with an initial "D", flanked by four ears of grain. The branch and the stalks in the current are symbolizing forestry and agriculture.

The banner coat of arms was approved on 21 July 1980 by the county administration, published in GABl 231/1981. The coat of arms was approved on 23 September 1948, probably by the government of Württemberg-Hohenzollern.
