Shield Azure a fleur-de-lis Argent, chief quartered of Argent and Sable.
Meaning:
The fleur-de-lis appeared first on a court seal of Wittelshofen from 1556 and had also been before the coat of arms of a Benecictine monastery, founded by Gumbert of Ansbach in 748. It remained a monastery until 1012. Today it is a church in Ansbach with Gumbert, Mary and Salvator as patron saints. The blue stripes are symbolising the confluence of the rivers Sulzach and Wörnitz. The quartered chief is representing the Margraves of Ansbach as former rulers.
