Shield Gules parted by a bendlet sinister wavy Argent, superimposed by a double queued lion rampant guardant Or, armed and tongued Gules, setting his dexter hindpaw onto hammer and mallet Argent and holding a cogwheel of the same by his forepaws, orle Argent charged with 13 pommes.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from the family arms of the Counts of Sayn-Hachenburg, former local rulers. Hammer and mallet are symbolising ore mining, the cogwheel industries, especially ore processing. The bendlet wavy is a representation of the Sieg River. The orle is symbolising the status of an associated municipality. Each pomme, a green roundel, is representing a municipality and city and associated municipality of Hamm.

The following municipalities have no proper banners: Birkenbeul, Bitzen , Breitscheidt, Bruchertseifen, Etzbach, Forst, Fürthen, Niederirsen, Pracht, Roth and Seelbach near Hamm.

Shield abased parted by a barrulet wavy Argent; above Gules two shelves Argent in saltire with tops shaped like horseheads, under the shelves a lion´s head guardant Or tongued Azure; beneath Azure hammer and mallet Argent in saltire.
Meaning:
The shelves are reminding on Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen (1818 - 1888), who was born in the village. He established Germany´s biggest agricultural cooperative trading including a cooperative bank, which had his name and used the shelves as its logo. The bank merged with Volksbank (= people´s bank), another coooerative bank at the end of the 20th century. The lion´s head is a differentiation of the family arms of the Counts of Sayn-Hachenburg, former local rulers. Their arms displayed a complete lion. The tools are symbolising ore mining in the past. The barrulet wavy is a representation of the Sieg River.
