Todtenweis Coat of Arms

Shield Azure chapé embowed Argent, in base a royal crown Or, above right a cross of Ulricus Azure, above left a cross Sable with an additional horizontal bar at the sinister base
Meaning:
Todtenweis had been a centre of royal possessions in the Lechrain area. The village was first mentioned in 1033 as a donation of Empress Kunigunde to the St. Afra Abbey, later Imperial Abbey of St. Ulricus and St. Afra in Augsburg. The abbey lost its possessions in 1803 by secularisation. The abbey also had the right of patronage of the local parish church, dedicated to St. Ulricus. The blue cross is alluding to the saint. The black cross is taken from the arms of the convent of the abbey. The crown is alluding to the empress, who also owned large estates in the village. The tinctures blue and silver are those of the Wittelbach kin, local ruler since 1803.
