The Nationalsozialistisches Reichskriegerbund (NSRKB) was formed 4 March 1938. It became the only authorized war veterans' organization. It was regarded as the successor of the Deutscher Reichskriegerbund Kyffhäuser (DRKB), for instance membership in the DRKB counted as membership in the NSRKB for purposes of longevity awards. It is possible that the flag was already adopted by the Deutscher Reichskriegerbund Kyffhäuser before the final unification of veterans' organizations.
