The flag and Coat of Arms of Mořkov is to be found at this site.
Description: Green flag with a white embattled hoist side (four square
leaves and three square blank spaces) reaching to a quarter of the length
of the flag. In green field a yellow roebuck standing. Width to length
is 2:3.
Mořkov is a Czech village located in northern Moravia, in Nový Jičín
District surrounded by the Moravskoslezske Beskydy Mts. About 2 km west
from Mořkov we find Hodslavice, the birthplace of Frantisek Palacky (1798-1876),
famous Czech historian and politician. The oldest written note about Mořkov
was supposedly found in the document dated 1274, in which Bruno, the bishop
of Olomouc, enfeoffed the village Murizt to Mravik. Some authorities doubt
that this mention really refers to contemporary Mořkov . But the following
historical document dated to 1411 referred undoubtedly to Mořkov . The location
of the village on the edge of the Valachian and Lachian ethnographic regions
displays itself in today's dying dialects of the inhabitants. In older
literature we can find the description of folk costume, typical of this
region (so called Moravske Kravarsko region). Thanks to Czech teachers
working in this region a book entitled Moravske Kravarsko was published
in 1898, from which you can view a copy of the chapter dedicated to Mořkov.
