By the 2016-2018 administrative reform, the municipality of Büyükkonuk should be incorporated in 2018 into the municipality of Mehmetçik.

The flag of Büyükkonuk (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem in the center. "K.K.T.C." is the acronym for "Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti", Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
