with Nicaragua. The canton is made of the four districts of Los Chiles, Cano
Negro, El Amparo and San Jorge. Los Chiles Canton was established by Law No.
4,541 of 17 March 1970, as the 14th canton of Alajuela Province; beforehand, Los
Chiles formed the 10th district of Grecia Canton.
