It was founded on 6 February 1759.
The flag of Bochalema is horizontally divided yellow-red-yellow
with two white five-points stars on the middle stripe.

web site: "The flag was designed and proposed by the
poet Eduardo Vélez Contreras in 1985, and confirmed by Decree
No. 021 signed on 23 May 1975. The flag is made of three
horizontal stripes. The upper and lower stripes are yellow, which
means the potential mining resources and agriculture and
cattle-breeding. The red central stripe represents the strength
and ardor of the region; the red stripe is charged with two white
five-pointed stars, placed 1/3 of the flag length from the hoist
and fly, respectively, symbolizing the pacific tribes of
Bochalemas and Chinácotas, the origin of our population."
