Boyacá, part of the the subregion of the Sugamuxi Province. It
was founded on 4 November 1585.
The flag of Gámeza is horizontally divided white-green-black.

"White expresses the human touch of the local people,
exercised sincerity and personality, the human values to be found
in each family and the feeling of peace and cordiality that is
the common denominator of this society.
Green means the crop, cattle and water resources of the
territory, the municipality being a big potato producer, cattle
being bred in the higlands, and the village being surrounded by
rivers and sources.
Black recalls the invaluable resources of the municipality in
coal, whose exploitation is the base of local economy and shall
give the impetus to the improvement of the life quality of the
villagers invoveld in the good use of the benefits; the royalties
shall contribute to the constant increase of programs and
projects of social wellfare."
Potato represents 64% of the agricultural production of the
municipality.
