Yellow: Resources of our municipality;
Green: Fauna"
The flag appears as a scroll surmonting the municipal coat of
arms, charged with the black writing "TIQUISIO TIERRA
ADORADA" (Tiquisio beloved land).
The colours of the flag are used in the three main parts of the
coat of arms, with a charge:
- Chief: a blue river landscape with a launch
symbolizing river transportation used to reach Tiquisio and a
fisher symbolizing the economy of the municipality;
- Dexter: a gold field with maize plants and cobs, symbolizing
the agricultural activity of the municipality;
- Sinister: a green field with a brown capybara, symbolizing the
local fauna. The capybara (Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris
L.), locally known as "carpincho" and common all over
Northern South America , is the largest of all rodents (up to 65
kg);
- Base (not shown on the flag): a red field with a gold placer's
pan, representing the ore of the municipality.
