Arroyo Hondo (a.k.a. Arroyohondo) is a municipality located in the Bolívar Department. It was founded on 31 October 1791.
The flag of Arroyo Hondo is horizontally divided white-yellow-green and charged with a Ceiba tree.

Yellow represents the agricultural and cattle resources of our communities.
Green represents the abundant vegetation of our capital and its 'corregimientos'.
The tree is a 'ceiba', a.k.a 'bonga'."
Genus Ceiba (Family Malvaceae) includes 10-20 species, the most famous of them being Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. (kapok) and C. speciosa (A. St. -Hil., A. Juss. & Cambess.) Ravenna (floss silk tree).
