"La bandera de JERICÓ se divide en dos bandas horizontales
de igual anchura: gualda y rojo.
El gualda representa:
Por ser color de los pabellones de la Iglesia y de la Patria,
significa la doble vocación del pueblo jericuano a la fidelidad
y al servicio de su patria y de su Dios.
La gualda significa luz en la mente y fuego en el alma, y dice
que JERICÓ ha cifrado su honor máximo en los valores de la
cultura.
El gualda, hecho oro en la heráldica, representa compensación
al trabajo honrado que es distintivo del jericuano raizal.
El rojo representa:
Amor al terruño, a la fe, a las tradiciones y a la familia.
Voluntad firme para superar las adversidades.
Valor de la defensa de la patria, del solar nativo y del
patrimonio espiritual.
El rojo es sangre hirviente de una juventud que es promesa del
futuro.
Rojo es el fruto del cafeto, fuente primordial del desarrollo
material, y exalta el mérito del campesino jericuano."
