In 1905 Sun Yat-Sen formed Chinese Alliance Society in exile Tokyo, Japan and proposed national flag of Republic of China which is red, blue and white three horizontal stripes influenced by European three colour flags.
The red stands for freedom and independence blue for equality and white for humanitarianism.

This flag was not purposed by Sun Yat-Sen at all. Actually, Dr. Sun purposed "Blue Sky, White Sun, and Red Ground" Flag, which became ROC's Flag since 1928, as the national flag of the Chinese republic since 1905 till his death.  And this is recorded in the history of the Republic of China and Kuomintang. This flag might be purposed by some members of Chinese Allience Society in Tokyo in 1905, but not including Dr. Sun Yat-Sen absolutely.

The book did not mention the flag was designed by Sun Yat-Sen. I agree to your gussing that some members made a proposal.

It's one of the proposals of the national flag of the Republic of China made by Chinese Alliance Society, but not the flag of Chinese Alliance Society.

A 3:5 flag with red over blue over white equally-wide horizontal stripes. As no specific shades mere mentioned, I've used standard shades. The ratio I've taken from Jaume's image. That the stripes are equally-wide is my own assumption, but it seemed fairly likely.
I wonder why someone proposed the Russian ensign upside down as their flag.
