The Association was established in 2005. It was formed from the merger of the Aargauische Kantonalschützengesellschaft (est. 1838), the Aargauischer Kantonaler Sportschützenverband (est. 1910), the Unterverband Aargau des Schweizerischen Arbeiterschützenbundes (est. 1919), the Aargauische Matchschützenvereinigung (est. 1968), the Schiessschule Aargau (est. 1996), and the Match- und Nachwuchskommission (est. 1983).
