The bear's head and the colours symbolize the previous close relationship between Hefenhofen and the
monastery of St. Gallen. The crown of the bear expresses the fact that Emperor Louis the Pious
(Ludwig der Fromme, 778–840) issued the document with the first mention of Hefenhofen.
