Opinions differ widely about the real Morschach coat of arms. Some say that the current official emblem
has absolutely no relation to the name Morschach. Others again tried to find different kinds of
interpretations. Connections were made to Mohr (moor) and Schach (chess) but with no proof.
Some plausibility has the reference to Möre (mother sow) and Schachen, which is a place
surrounded by nature or an artificial facility. The meaning would then be: "Pigs being herded into the
gate/pen".
