In 1604, after long negotiations, François de Chapeaurouge and Jacob Aujorrant succeeded in obtaining
recognition of the sovereignty over Chancy from Henry IV. In honor of these diplomats, the commune
adopted in 1924 Jacob Aujorrant's coat of arms.
