You're right, we have Swiss communal emblems which show the French tricolor as an estimation
for the French Revolution. But that's not the case with Gelterkinden.
From the communal website:
"The straight Gelterkinder coat of arms corresponds to the French tricolor. However, it is
significantly older than the flag of France and represents the shield of the Froburg ministerial
family of the Lords of Gelterkinden. These were first attested in 1237. The last known, Cunrat
von Gelterchingen, died in 1308 as canon of Werd in Aargau. At the suggestion of the subcommittee
for municipal coats of arms, the coat of arms described above was adopted as the official emblem
of Gelterkinden by a municipal council resolution in February 1944."
