I cannot explain the presence of a palm tree on the flag of Hallwil, I wonder what it is doing here. This is not canting and I'm not sure that Hallwil is the ideal place on Earth for palm trees to grow.

[Ed. note: Already on the commune's seals of the 19th century the coat of arms showed a palm tree. The reason is indeed unknown.
In 1963 the colour of the field was changed from yellow to red.]
