Notre-Dame de Montauban has 750 inhabitants on 173.6 km².
It includes
the population centres of Notre-Dame-des-Anges and Montauban-les-Mines,
located along route 367, about 7 kilometres apart.
In 1919, village
municipalities of Notre-Dame-des-Anges and of Montauban were detached from
Notre-Dame-des-Anges-de-Montauban .
In 1969, Notre-Dame-des-Anges and
Notre-Dame-des-Anges-de-Montauban merged to form the municipality of
Notre-Dame-des-Anges.
In 1976, Notre-Dame-des-Anges and Montauban merged
to form the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-Montauban.

The flag is divided vertically 5:5:6:5:5 (R/W/B/W/R) with the emblem of
the municipality (https://www.notredamedemontauban.com/armoiries):
blue stands for Virgin Mary ("Notre-Dame"), the crescent and the 12 stars
for the description of Virgin Mary in the Revelation to John, the three
golden mountains for the Laurentian Mountains, and the wild river for River
Batiscan.
