Description of the flag

Sparwood is located in the far southeastern toe of British Columbia, about 15 miles west of the Alberta/British Columbia border. It has a population of about 4,500, and is a "new" town, constructed by the Province of British Columbia in the 1960s to 1970s to replace the former towns of Michel and Natal, which were in and amongst the underground coal mines on the B.C. side of the Crowsnest Pass. Since the relocation and establishment of the new town site, Sparwood has become the center of major open pit coal mining operations in the Elk Valley.

Sparwood has adopted a new flag. The change apparently occurred in 2011: https://www.thefreepress.ca/news/whats-in-a-brand-sparwood-logo-turns-10/
"The five-point star was meant to represent the five communities that came together to form Sparwood, and the logo being black and white was a nod to coal and to the long winters of the region, but it was never particularly well-received."

Previous flag

[Sparwood BC] by Brian James Erickson

I was in Sparwood this summer, and one of the District's municipal office staff sent me the proofing material for the Sparwood flag--which gives the dimensions, PMS colors, etc. for the Sparwood flag. As I worked for four years there in municipal government, I can confirm these are correct. I'd appreciate it if you could either see this image was submitted to FOTW or advise me on how to do so myself, as I'd enjoy seeing it among the municipal flags of the Province of British Columbia. I am hoping to be able to submit several more flags from this area of B.C. in the future.

The specifications that were attached to the image include:
Size: 54 inches x 108 inches
Colours: White, orange PMS 131, green PMS 349
