The municipal flag of Spruce Grove has the city's coat of arms featured in the middle. According to a memo dated September 15th 1986 by Municipal Intern, Harry Salm, there is no official documentation which describes the meaning of the various elements found on the City's Coat of Arms. However, in discussions with several people Mr. Salm was able to obtain consensus for the symbolic representation of the following elements:

On the shield:

Upper left – a tree representing the forest
Upper right – a cog wheel representing the lumber industry
Lower Left – a stook representing agriculture (Note: I think we would call this a sheaf - a stook is made of several sheaves, and should be wider at the bottom)
Lower right – a teepee representing the Natives
On either side of the shield are deer representing wildlife and on top of the shield is a representation of the rising sun.

According to Mr. Salm's memo, the Coat of Arms was designed by Sam McGee during the early 1970's. However, it is not known for certain if this claim is true or not.
