The municipality of Comodoro (18,157 inhabitants in 2010; 21,774 sq. km) is located in northern Mato Grosso, on the border with the Rondônia State and with Bolivia, 650 km of Cuiabá.

Comodoro was originally known as Nova Alvorada, made a district on 6 June 1977. The colonization of Nova Alvorada was planned by Raimundo Costa Filho, the founder of the town of Colíder. In 1983, the name of Comodoro was chosen on a list by the colonists. Established by Law No. 4,636 of 22 March 1985, the district of Comodoro was made a municipality by State Law No. 5,000 of 13 May 1986, following a Bill tabled by the State Representative Antônio Francisco Monteiro.

The symbols of Comodoro are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 615 of 30 March 2001.

The flag (Article 2) is of 16 on 20 units. Its colours are golden yellow - representing the mining resources, leaf green - representing the vegetable resources and the Amazonian forest, sky blue - meaning the unlimited immensity of the space and progress aspired to by the inhabitants, and white - meaning peace. The golden yellow triangle placed in the lower part of the flag is 14 on 10 units. So is the leaf green triangle placed in the upper part of the flag. The blue stripe, placed between the two triangles, is charged in the middle with a white disc. The white disk, placed in the middle of the blue stripe, in the middle of the flag, has a radius of 3 units and is charged with the municipal coat of arms. The two sides of the flag should be strictly equal.

The coat of arms (Article 1) is surrounded by a crown made of 62 blue, red and yellow feathers, symbolizing the percentage of the municipal territory made a reserve, as well as the fauna and the native arts, surrounding a white disk charged with:
- three cylindrical logs proper, representing vegetal resources, placed in the lower part of the shield;
- three soybean plants representing the agricultural potential, placed in the lower central part of the shield;
- a Nelore beef cattle, white outlined in black, representing cattle-breeding, surrounded by a gray cogwheel, symbolizing the industrial potential, placed in the upper center of the shield;
- inside the feather crown, on left a branch of rice fructed and, on right, a branch of coffee fructed, the two proper, representing the agricultural potential of the municipality, crossed per saltire above the scroll on a green panel representing the fields used as winter pastures.
The carmine red scroll is placed above a mural crown. It is charged in the middle with "Comodoro" and "13-05" and "1986" on the left and right ends, respectively, meaning the date of establishment of the municipality. The shield has three yellow towers of Moorish style and Portuguese shape, placed under the scroll.
