Vredeseilanden / Îles de Paix (Islands of Peace) is a non-profit organization aiding rural development founded by Father Pire, Peace Nobel Prize 1958 (biography).

To draw attention to agricultural subsidies in Europe harming rural society in the developing countries, the Dutch language website of Vredeseilanden (Belgium) hit upon the idea of having an imaginary Senegalese farmer wanting to join Belgium (as the 11th province). Intrigued, the Flemish singer Stijn Meuris travels over there to investigate, as shown in the filmlet Le Belge (The Belgian).
After debating with Stijn Meuris about the name of the 11th province, to-be Governor Augustin Meulemans - the Belgian-sounding name adopted by the farmer - eventually decided for "Augustinegal".
