Coat of arms of Teslić

[Municipal flag]

Coat of arms of Teslić - Image by Željko Heimer, 4 February 2013

The coat of arms of Teslić is prescribed in Article 6 of the Municipal Statutes Statut opštine Teslić (text), adopted on 15 June 2006 by the Municipal Assembly and published the same day in the Municipal official gazette Službeni glasnik opštine Teslić, No. 6, as follows:

The Municipality has a coat of arms expressing its historical, cultural and natural heritage.
The coat of arms of the Municipality is of oval shape and contains: a double-headed eagle with a crown, an uppercase "T" in the central part between two factory chimneys in base of which there is a symbol of mineral water, mountains as a symbol of the relief, a ribbon with the colours of the flag of Republikia Srpska under which it is inscribed "Teslić", the whole surrounded with two oak branches.

Željko Heimer, 4 February 2013

The green hills represent Mount Borja, where Teslić is located. Teslić industry has depended on the mountain resources, especially lumber, for decades. The pale blue field in the lower portion of the coat of arms represents river Usora. The tricolor, the white eagle in the background and the crown represent both Serbs as the majority and Republika Srpska as a country. The text is the name of the town written in Serbian Cyrillic. The oak branches represent both the dense woods surrounding Teslić and Serbian people, taken here as an element from the historical coat of arm of Serbs.
In the escutcheon, which was the coat of arms of the town before the Bosnian War (black and white image), the red letter "T" within the escutcheon stands for "Teslić". The two vertical brown stripes aside represent the two chimneys of the main factory in Teslić - Destilacija, which was the reason for founding the town. The pale blue field represents river Usora again.

Most representations of this coat of arm have the crown deformed. The first digital representation of the coat of arm was made in Corel software, and the producer did not pay much attention, so while resizing the graphic, some portions of the crown were not grouped with the rest, and therefore remained larger than the rest. Since at the time that was the only digital source, many used the wrong one for years, not paying any attention to it. It was only until several years ago that some producers made right, non-deformed version.
