The Somerton Yacht Club (SYC) is located in Somerton Park, South Australia. It was formed as the Somerton Sailing Club at a meeting conducted by the Mayor of Brighton, Mr. W. S. Walsh, in February 1945. In 1953, the clubhouse was totally destroyed in a storm and Somerton became near non-existent. In September 1953, at a special meeting, the revived Club changed its name from The Somerton Sailing Club to The Somerton Yacht Club.
The burgee of SYC is red with a white S at hoist.
