The Australian Sailing and Cruising Club (ASCC) was founded in Sidney in July 1991 as "a club for gays, lesbians and their friends". ASCC is the organizer of the popular "Mardi Gras Regatta", awarded the "Best Sporting Event" award in 1997. In the 2002 Gay Games organized in Sydney, ASCC hosted the newly accepted sailing competitions.
The burgee of ASCC is horizontally divided white-green with the monogram of the club, made of the black letters ASCC filling a triangle and mimicking a sailing ship in the white stripe. A pink triangle mirroring the ASCC triangle is placed in the green stripe. This is the description of the real burgee, as shown on a photograph in the ASCC website. The graphic representation of the burgee has green ASCC letters and is less elongated than the real burgee.
