About the district
The municipality of General Alvarado (34,391 inhabitants in 2001;
1,599 ha), created on 29 September 1891, is located on the Atlantic
Ocean, in the Province of Buenos Aires, 480 km south of the city of Buenos Aires. The capital of the municipality is the town of Miramar (24,317 inh.), locally known as "The Town of Children and Bicycles"
and famous for its sand beaches.
