Flag of Gyumri

The flag of Gyumri is described as follows on the municipal website:

The color of the flag is white, with gilt edged. There is a red cross in the center, with the golden image of a panther. The width to length proportions of the flag are 1:2.
The white color represents the will to live in peace. The red cross represents the longevity of the people and the Christian belief. The golden panther representing the Bagratids coat of arms, symbolizes the independence and statehood of Armenia.

On the video footage of the flag consecration ceremony, the flag appears without fringe or edge.

The coat of arms of Gyumri is described as follows on the municipal website:

The panther. Shirak region was the residency of the Bagratids, thus their coat of arms is used.
The arch. Mount Aragats and the church are used as elements typical to Gyumri architecture and nature.
St. Gregory Illuminator's Lantern is used because, according to the legend, the Illuminator's Lantern is burning in between the peaks of Mount Aragats.
Shoul (balance thread) is used as the symbol of the crafts and punctuality.
Symbols of education and art are on the right and left sides of the arch.
