Civic Circles

image by István Molnár, 19 March 2006

After the last election (2002) when the postcommunist MSZP won many people have found small political circles. Some of them are liberalist, some of the have united to the Fidesz, some of them radicalist or environmentalist or conservationist or saving the civil rights.. For example in my town there is two civic circle: Civic Circle of the Family Doctors in Pápa and the Civic Circle of Pápa.
Some of the circles  have united with another circles - some made the larger union of the circles - for example the "Tiszántúli Polgári Körök Szövetsége". The Tiszántúli Polgári Körök Szövetsége" is the union of the cicvic circles in the Tiszántúl Region. Here is its flag.
Tiszántúl is the one of the three largest region of Hungary: Dunántúl (left from the Danube), Duna-Tisza-köze (between the rivers) and the Tiszántúl (right from the Tisza river).
István Molnár, 22 June 2003

Civic Circle is part of Fidesz Electoral Bloc in 2006 elections. Above is flag of an Civic Circle with the motto of the Fidesz Electoral Bloc. The flag is one of the flags used by civic circles. Some CC has got their own flag - for example the Civic Circle in Pápa has a white flag with the Coat of Arms of the town and the green insription: PÁPAI POLGÁRI KÖR. The CC's use the tricolor with different inscriptions. This inscription - as a motto of the CC's - is the most common motto. The long form of the motto: 'HAJRÁ MAGYARORSZÁG, HAJRÁ MAGYAROK!', was used at first by Viktor Orbán prime minister after the first round of the election 2002.

The Fidesz is a major national conservative political party in Hungary. At the 2010 election in Hungary, they won a two-thirds majority of seats in the Parliament.
There is not too much change in their symbols, official flag is white with an orange ball where party abbreviation is written. However all other variants can be seen during the demonstartions.

The party describes itself as "a principled, conservative and radically patriotic Christian party", whose "fundamental purpose" was the protection of "Hungarian values and interests." Photo of vertical flags at <www.hajrabiatorbagy.hu>. It seems that the KDNP got two different symbols:   one with the cross in gold-white and straight topand ne with white cross and bent top.
István Molnár, 28 March 2006

The Christian Democratic People's Party (Hungarian: Kereszténydemokrata Néppárt, KDNP) is officially a coalition partner of ruling party Fidesz, but in reality it is a satellite party of Fidesz, and has been unable to get into the Parliament on its own since 1994 when it barely passed the election threshold of 5% of votes. Without Fidesz, its support cannot be measured.
Its flag is white with its striped shield depicting a Latin cross and two ears of wheat (all in gold). Around the badge a motto can be read: Cum Deo Pro Patria et Libertate! (With God for Homeland and Liberty!) Originally it was motto of Rákóczi's War of Independence (1703-1711).
Flag without its motto is also used.
