The coat of arms is "Azure St. Sophia stantant clad gules and haloed or holding in each hand a fortified town of the last windowed of the second".
St. Sophia, the town's patron saint, holds two towns remembering the nearby ruined town of Dvigrad (lit., "Double Town") from which the modern town developed.
