The "Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos" (CICCP), roughly translatable as Society of Civil Engineers, which I am a member of, is the institution which all civil engineers working in Spain must join. Its statutes (in Spanish) are available in PDF form on its website, and define its badge and flag thus:
"Capítulo I (...) Artículo 1. Naturaleza (...)6.- El emblema del Colegio está constituido por un puente sobre un canal, con un ancla cruzada con cadena, y todo ello contorneado por dos ramas, una de palma y otra de roble, atadas en la parte inferior y abiertas en la superior.
7.- La bandera del Colegio es de color morado, de forma rectangular y proporción dos en vertical a tres en horizontal, y lleva en su centro el emblema descrito en el párrafo anterior."
My translation:
"Chapter I (...) Article 1. Nature (...)6.- The badge of the Society is made up of a [stone] bridge over a channel, with an anchor crossed bearing a chain, the whole surrounded by two branches, one of palm and one of oak, bound at the bottom and separate at the top.
7.- The flag of the Society is purple, rectangular with a vertical:horizontal proportion of two to three, and bears on its centre the badge described in the previous paragraph."
The symbolism of the badge follows closely the traditional Spanish style for civil engineers, "engineers of ways, channels and ports." The actual shade of purple used on flags is very bluish, as can be seen in flags used at CICCP events. Also, on actual flags the bridge is brown, not grey as on the badge shown on the CICCP website.
