Donaueschingen City Banner

The shield is divided per fess into silver (= white) over blue. The only charge is a wheel with six spokes in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The arms were granted in 1895 and are a reduction of the arms of the Esching kin, who played an important role in the history of the town. The shield of the Eschings displayed three wheels. These arms were used until 1895.
Before 1895 the local arms and seals displayed a bushel, an old round measuring device for grain (Sester) as the main charge. This bushel was an old market town symbol. The oldest known arms from 1791 only displayed the bushel. When the Grand Duke of Baden granted city rights to Donaueschingen in 1810, the eagle of the Counts of Fürstenberg was placed above the bushel. Later during the 19th century the eagle became the main symbol. An inescutcheon was added, divided per bend sinister into the arms of Baden and the bushel. The colour of the bushel is not mentioned within source.
